14 Before 2014: Beer Coaster Wall Art!

Well, here it is...

The first finished project on my "14 before 2014" list

I present to you.... Number 9: "Frame the honeymoon coasters".

As I previously mentioned, we went to Germany for our honeymoon and of course, M loved the beer there. He made me stuff coasters from all of his favorite breweries into my purse to bring home. When we got home, he arranged them and told me how much he wanted to frame them! Now, M never wants to do craft/art/DIY projects, so I knew this was going on the list. A project we could do together? Awesome.

So after rearranging and cleaning the kitchen (omg! I know! So productive!), we decided to tackle this easy project. I already had the ugly picture frame, which was the product of a recent Goodwill run, so we got to work:

This frame is great, but the picture in it is THE WORST! We took it apart and cleaned the glass.

Blech.

I flipped the cardboard over (so that the ugly pic is on the back against the wall) and used a glue stick to stick black construction paper on it.

Then M arranged the beer coasters to look how he wanted them to, and I glued them down with regular craft glue.

We took the frame outside and spray painted it white.

M then put some tiny nails in the back to hold the cardboard and glass in the frame, and we were finished!

Here is the finished product! How cool! M's favorite Bavarian beers will be forever immortalized in some awesome wall art. :)

The best part of all of this? We had everything except the frame, which cost about $4.00 at Goodwill. The overall cost of this project was under $5! Score!

Hope you like it! Do you like beer as much as M does? Do you have a way to keep honeymoon memories?

Until next time! <3

  4. Oh I love this! What a great way to show-off sentimentals so they don't just gather dust in a box.
